A murder investigation is underway in Crystal Palace, south-east London, after a man was fatally stabbed early on Sunday morning. The Metropolitan Police were called to Westow Hill at 3:39 a.m. following reports of a stabbing.
Two Men Stabbed, One Fatally
Officers arriving at the scene found a 30-year-old man with serious injuries. He was treated by paramedics and subsequently taken to hospital, where his condition is described as not life-threatening or life-changing. Shortly afterward, police discovered a second man, believed to be in his 30s, also with stab wounds in the same area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 30-year-old man who was hospitalised has since been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Road Closure Affects Local Businesses
The incident has led to a road closure and police cordon on Westow Hill, forcing several local businesses to remain closed. Thai Crystal, a restaurant on the street, confirmed to Metro that they are unable to open due to the ongoing police investigation. Similarly, Craft and Courage, a local pub, posted on social media that they cannot open because of the road closure following the murder.
In a social media update, Craft and Courage said: 'Serious police issue on Westow Hill. If you fancy a cold pint, Hepcat, or Gravity Well, or some cans to go, pop down to the Crystal Palace Park Market.'
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, stated: 'This is a fast-moving investigation and residents in Crystal Palace will continue to notice an extensive police presence today as our inquiries continue.'
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact them. The investigation remains active as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
