Murder Charge After Fatal Assault Outside Sidcup Pub

Liam Burgess, 36, has been charged with murder following an alleged assault outside a pub in Sidcup, southeast London, that left a 50-year-old man dead. Stuart Tickner suffered head injuries in the incident on Station Road and died in hospital five days later.

Details of the Incident

Police were called to the scene on Station Road at around 1am on Monday, May 25, where they found Mr Tickner unconscious. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on May 30. His family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Charges and Court Appearance

On Sunday, June 21, Liam Burgess, of Harefield, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon in a public place. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 22, and has been remanded in custody. Burgess is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, June 24.

Tributes and Fundraising

Debbie Sinclair, a close friend of Mr Tickner, set up a GoFundMe page to cover his funeral costs. At the time of writing, the page had received over £9,000 in donations. Paying tribute to her friend, she wrote: “Stuart was full of life and the one of the kindest people I have ever met - he made friends wherever he went and would always help anyone out. His loss is devastating for his mother, daughter and nephews along with his friends of which he had so many. He will be missed forever.”
