A man who died on a Citylink bus on the Isle of Skye has been named locally as Graham Soave. The 37-year-old, from Forfar, was pronounced dead at the scene in Portree after police received reports of an unresponsive man on the vehicle at 8.50pm on Monday, October 5.
Death treated as unexplained
His death is currently being treated as unexplained, however, police say there appear to be no suspicious circumstances. As reported by Skye Radio, Mr Soave’s family confirmed his death in a post on social media.
They said: “It is with great sadness today that we have lost Graham Soave. A dear father, grandson, nephew, brother, uncle and cousin.”
Tributes pour in online
Tributes poured in for Graham online following the news of his passing. Shannon Johnstone wrote: "Honestly can’t believe this, rest in peace, my friend. Love you always mate."
Chris Byrne said: "Just sitting here speaking to you on my birthday, planning our pint together for Friday. Gutted you’re not here anymore, mate. Would give anything to have that pint with you. Love you, Heed. Until we meet again."
Amy MacAskill added: "I remember Graham from years ago. Sad to read this, and condolences to his friends and family."
Citylink assisting police
Citylink confirmed that it was assisting police with an ongoing investigation. A spokesperson for the coach firm said: “We can confirm that a passenger was found unresponsive on board one of our services on Monday evening and sadly passed away. We are deeply saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the passenger’s family and loved ones at this very difficult time.
"We have been working closely with the emergency services and continue to support Police Scotland with their enquiries into this tragic incident.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.50pm on Monday, 5 October, we received a report of an unresponsive man on a bus in Portree. Emergency services attended and a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead. His family is aware.
“The death is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”
