Man missing since 1992 found dead abroad, family informed

Patrick (Patsy) O’Sullivan, who disappeared 34 years ago, has been found dead. The 35-year-old went missing in 1992, and his last known contact with his family was in Lombardstown, County Cork, in April of that year, on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, after returning from work in County Kerry.

He was due to visit his family in the following weeks for a Christening, but never arrived, and had not been seen since. Patsy often worked away for weeks at a time in different locations, but always maintained contact with his family and returned periodically.

Family's long search and appeals

Over the years, his family never gave up hope and made a fresh appeal for information as recently as July of this year. They also used social media to appeal to people in County Kerry and beyond for any information, no matter how small.

The case was also shared on Crimecall on several occasions, including last year, when he would have been 68 years old. Patsy was the middle child of seven siblings, and his two brothers previously spoke to RTÉ about the pain they have felt since he went missing.

Brothers' memories

His brother Jerry said: “He just stopped coming home.” Jerry also recalled his brother having a “heart of gold,” while another brother, Eugene, said he always “enjoyed his life to the full.”

Garda confirmation

It is now understood that Patsy has been located deceased abroad, and his family has been informed. A Garda spokesperson said: “The missing person, Patrick (Patsy) O’Sullivan, whose last known contact with his family was in Lombardstown, County Cork in April 1992, has been located. An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance.”
