Police cordoned off a road in Toxteth this morning after a man was discovered deceased in a flat. Merseyside Police confirmed they received a report at 9:25 AM on Thursday, June 18, regarding a man's body found inside a property on Croxteth Road.
Details of the Incident
The man, believed to be in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is currently being treated as unexpected, and a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death. Croxteth Road was closed from Hartington Road to Sefton Park Road but has since fully reopened.
Witness Accounts
A local resident who spoke to the ECHO at 10:48 AM reported a "large police presence" in the area. When the ECHO arrived shortly before 12 PM, two police cars were seen leaving the scene. A nearby resident shared: "Police arrived around 9 AM this morning; I heard the sirens just outside the door. There was nothing out of the ordinary as far as I know, but I thought it was a bit odd when forensics were going in and out. Then two funeral vans turned up, and I knew for sure someone had died. I don’t know who the gentleman is, but it’s sad whoever it is."
