Man in his 50s found dead near Victoria station

Police were called to Victoria Street in Westminster at around 04:50hrs on Tuesday, 23 June, after reports of a man collapsed outside McDonald's. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended, but the man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police cordon and investigation

A forensic tent was erected and a police cordon was in place as officers investigated the circumstances. The road remained open to pedestrians. The Metropolitan Police confirmed formal identification has yet to take place and efforts are underway to trace the man's next of kin.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Around 04:50hrs on Tuesday, 23 June, officers attended Victoria Street, Westminster, after a man was found collapsed. Police attended with the London Ambulance Service. The man – aged in his 50s – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has yet to take place, and officers are working to trace the man's next of kin. The circumstances of his death are under investigation.”
