Man in 20s found dead inside Wirral house as police investigate

Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man in his 20s was found inside a house in Wirral.

Merseyside Police confirmed that officers have been at the scene on Reedville, Oxton, since yesterday (Saturday, October 3) following the sudden death.

Emergency services called

North West Ambulance Service contacted police at around 3.55pm yesterday to report that they had found the body of a man in his 20s inside the property.

Following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected.

Precautionary measures

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene as a precaution to assess and remove substances located inside the premises. Police have said there is no wider risk to the public at this stage.

His next of kin has been informed, and a file will be passed to the Coroner.

Police statement

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services remain in Oxton today (Sunday 4 October) following a sudden death yesterday."

"Shortly after 3.55pm on Saturday 3 October, North West Ambulance Service reported they had attended a property on Reedville where they had found a man in his 20s sadly deceased inside."

"Merseyside Police has launched an investigation and following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected. His next of kin has been informed and a file will be passed to the Coroner."

"As a precaution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have attended to assess and remove substances located inside the premises and have deemed there is no wider risk to the public at this stage."
