A man has been found dead in Salford after police were called to reports of a concern for welfare. Officers were called to East Philip Street at around 6.30am on Tuesday, September 29, and the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Cordon erected around community garden
A cordon was put in place around the Bridgewater Community Garden, which sits just off Bridgewater Street near the banks of the River Irwell. Pictures showed tape in place around the gardens with multiple officers and police vehicles stationed at the scene.
No further details about the man have been released at this stage. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police statement on the incident
In a statement, the GMP spokesperson said: "At around 6.30am this morning, officers responded to reports of a concern for welfare close to East Philip Street, Salford."
"Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time."
