Detectives investigating the Grenfell fire have submitted files of evidence relating to 20 companies and 54 individuals to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.
Charging Decision Timeline
The CPS has stated that charging decisions will be made before the 10th anniversary of the disaster, which falls on June 14, 2027.
The blaze in June 2017 in North Kensington, west London, claimed the lives of 72 people. A total of 70 people died at the scene, and two other people died later in hospital.
Potential Offences Under Consideration
Potential offences being considered include corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter, health and safety offences, fraud and fraud-related offences, and misconduct in public office.
The public inquiry into the fire found that the disaster was avoidable.
