A family has paid tribute to a 'beloved' mother whose death has sparked a murder investigation. Tracy McCormack, 55, from Litherland, was found dead at a block of flats on St Ambrose Croft in Netherton on Sunday, July 5.
Discovery and police response
Paramedics attended the scene and reported the death to Merseyside Police at around 10am. Officers arrived and launched a murder investigation. The death is being treated as unexplained, with enquiries ongoing into the circumstances surrounding Tracy's death. A post-mortem is yet to take place, a force spokesperson said.
Family tribute
In a tribute released via Merseyside Police, the family said: 'Tracy was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Our family kindly asks for privacy during this difficult time as we grieve this devastating loss.'
Arrest and investigation
A 30-year-old woman from Netherton was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday and remains in police custody. Detectives are pursuing several lines of enquiry and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Nuttall said: 'Our thoughts continue to be with Tracy’s family at this tragic time and they are being supported by our family liaison officers. Although we have arrested a person in connection with the investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information to please contact us. Any information no matter how small will assist with our enquiries.'
