Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is taking legal action against Thames Valley Police in a bid to quash search warrants which led to his arrest, with a private High Court hearing to take place on Thursday, a judicial spokesperson has said.
Background to the legal challenge
The legal action follows a report by the Telegraph that the former Duke of York has been granted permission to challenge whether the force acted lawfully over the searches relating to his arrest in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The arrest came after allegations he shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.
Andrew’s application for a judicial review is said to have been made earlier this year and recently approved by a High Court judge.
Next steps in the case
The private High Court hearing is scheduled to take place on Thursday, according to the judicial spokesperson. Further details of the proceedings have not been disclosed.
