Detectives investigating the murder of 17-year-old Donna Keogh, who vanished from Middlesbrough in 1998, have made a second arrest. A 62-year-old man was taken into custody in the Manchester area and will be interviewed by police.
Second Suspect Arrested
The arrest comes after a 64-year-old man from Leeds was detained earlier this year on suspicion of murder. That suspect remains on police bail as enquiries continue. Donna was last seen in central Middlesbrough on Tuesday, April 28, 1998, and is known to have travelled to Leeds that year. Her body has never been found, but police strongly believe she was killed shortly after she disappeared.
Police Appeal for Information
Deputy Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Evan Kirtley said: "This morning we have made a second arrest in connection with the murder of Donna Keogh. The man remains in police custody where he will be interviewed. We remain in close contact with Donna's family and they are being kept fully updated." He added: "Donna's family have lived with unbearable uncertainty for nearly 30 years as they need answers as to what happened to Donna, and we are determined to find those answers for them."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. A £20,000 reward from Crimestoppers is still on offer. Tipsters can contact Crimestoppers anonymously online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org or call 0800 555 111.
Family's Long Wait for Justice
Donna's family have endured decades of uncertainty. Despite an exhaustive investigation, her remains have never been recovered. DI Kirtley urged: "Somebody out there knows what happened and could tell us, in order to give the family some comfort and peace, after all this time. If you have information, please tell us."
