Second Man Arrested Over 1998 Murder of Teen Donna Keogh
Second Arrest in 1998 Murder of Donna Keogh

Cleveland Police have arrested a second man in connection with the murder of Donna Keogh, a 17-year-old who disappeared in 1998. The suspect, aged 62, was detained in the Manchester area and is set to be interviewed by officers. A 64-year-old man arrested earlier in March on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.

Background of the Case

Donna Keogh was last seen on April 28, 1998, after visiting a home in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire. She was known to have travelled to Leeds during the year. Her body has never been found, and it is suspected she was killed shortly after going missing. A month later, she was officially reported missing, despite a friend having assured her that the house she went to was "safe."

Police Investigation and Appeal

Deputy Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Evan Kirtley stated: "We have made a second arrest in connection with the murder of Donna Keogh. The man remains in police custody where he will be interviewed. We remain in close contact with Donna's family and they are being kept fully updated." He added: "Donna's family have lived with unbearable uncertainty for nearly 30 years as they need answers as to what happened to Donna. Somebody out there knows what happened and could tell us, in order to give the family some comfort and peace, after all this time. If you have information, please tell us. You can contact us directly or report anonymously."

Earlier Investigation

Four men are believed to have been at the property on the day Donna was there. In March 1999, detectives launched their first murder investigation after arresting two men on suspicion of murder. Although the inquiry continued for a considerable period, no charges have ever been brought over Donna's murder. The recent arrests mark the first major updates in the cold case in years.
