A body has been found in the search for a missing man from Northumberland who was last seen over a week ago. Adam, aged 44, was last known to be in the Lynemouth area at around 9am on Saturday, September 26.

Discovery near River Lyne

Northumbria Police officers had been carrying out extensive enquiries to locate him and released a public appeal last week. The body was discovered near the River Lyne area of Lynemouth, known locally as the Dene.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, but it is believed to be Adam. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

No third-party involvement suspected

The force has stated that there is believed to be no third-party involvement, with a report now being prepared for the coroner.

Inspector Matthew Locke, of Northumbria Police, said: "Our thoughts are with Adam’s family and loved ones at this tragic time. We would like to thank everyone who helped in the search for Adam, and those who shared our appeal and contacted us with information. We'd also like to request the family's privacy is respected at this time."
