Wirral Line Disruption: Track Fault and Power Issues

Merseyrail services on the Wirral line are experiencing major disruption this evening, June 26, due to a track fault at Conway Park and power supply issues between Birkenhead Central and Hamilton Square. All four services—Ellesmere Port, West Kirby, New Brighton, and Chester—are subject to delays and cancellations. Disruption is expected until 7pm.

Service-Specific Updates

Chester and Ellesmere Port Lines

Due to power supply problems between Birkenhead Central and Hamilton Square, the Chester and Ellesmere Port line is disrupted. Train services from Chester and Ellesmere Port are returning to normal, but some services may still be cancelled or delayed. A rail replacement bus service has been requested to operate between Birkenhead Central and Moorfields, but this bus service is not yet in operation.

West Kirby and New Brighton Lines

Due to a track fault at Conway Park, the West Kirby and New Brighton line is disrupted. Train services from West Kirby and New Brighton will be terminated at and started back from Birkenhead North. Passengers can use their tickets at no extra cost on replacement road transport services between Birkenhead North and Hamilton Square in both directions until further notice.

Disruption is expected to continue until 7pm. Passengers are advised to check for updates and allow extra time for their journeys.
