Trams halted after Droylsden crash between tram and car

Trams on the Ashton Metrolink line were halted after a crash involving a tram and a car in Droylsden. The incident occurred on Ashton Road, near the Williamson Lane junction, involving a tram and a black Vauxhall Zafira.

Services were suspended between Etihad Campus and Ashton-under-Lyne on the afternoon of August 7. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) confirmed there were no injuries reported following the crash.

Nine stops affected

Nine tram stops were out of service while crews responded to the incident. Trams from Manchester city centre terminated at Etihad Campus, and passengers were advised to use Bee Network buses instead. Metrolink tickets were accepted on several local bus routes.
