Swansea City striker Bobby Wales poised for Dundee loan

Swansea City striker Bobby Wales is close to sealing a loan move to Scottish side Dundee, with terms of the deal now agreed in principle.

The 21-year-old is poised to link up with Stephen Pressley's side for the upcoming season as he bids to get more first-team football under his belt. Several other clubs were linked with a move, including Motherwell, as well as League One sides Reading, Cambridge United and Stevenage. However, sources have indicated Dundee have won the race.

Previous loan spell

Wales spent last season on loan at Huddersfield Town, but made just five league appearances, all of which were from the bench. The Swans still rate Wales highly following his arrival from Kilmarnock last summer, but there appears to be little chance of him picking up too many minutes this season.

Speaking back in January, boss Vitor Matos said: "I think Bobby has a lot of qualities like I said. I like him and there's a lot there's a lot of energy."

Competition for places

However, the club already have Zan Vipotnik and Adam Idah on the books, while Ross Stewart has recently joined on a free transfer. A loan spell has clearly been seen as the best next step in his development, although they are hoping he can enjoy a more fruitful spell at Dens Park.

Cameron Congreve enjoyed a strong stint there, which delivered his first Welsh cap. Congreve has since been sold to Belgian side Westerlo.
