Liverpool FC fans will have a new way to travel to Anfield from this weekend, as a shuttle bus service launches from Bootle.
Starting Sunday (August 9), the day of Liverpool's pre-season game against AS Monaco, supporters can park in or take public transport to Bootle and then use the new bus, which will begin running three hours before kick-off.
New 968 service details
The new 968 service will run from Bootle Bus Station stand 4 to Anfield, dropping passengers at the Everton Valley bus stop. It follows the introduction of matchday shuttle services between Bootle Strand Shopping Centre and Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Council's hopes for the trial
Sefton Council hopes the new trial will “further establish Bootle as a key matchday transport hub for football supporters travelling to major fixtures across the city region.”
“Fans will be able to take advantage of convenient parking options, public transport connections and dedicated shuttle services. This, in turn, reduces congestion making journeys to and from matches easier and more efficient,” the council said.
The council also noted that the Hill Dickinson shuttle had brought new visitors to Bootle, creating opportunities for local businesses.
