EasyJet has launched seven new routes from several UK airports in just three days, expanding its network with flights to winter getaway destinations and cities known for festive Christmas markets, including Copenhagen, Nuremberg and Kraków.
The budget airline offers more than 62 million seats annually on flights to and from the UK. Its latest expansion adds new services from Newcastle, London Southend, Manchester, Luton and Liverpool John Lennon airports.
New services from Newcastle and Liverpool
Two new routes have been introduced from Newcastle Airport (NCL), linking the north-east city with John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice (KRK) in Poland and Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) in Morocco.
Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport, said: "easyJet’s continued growth, with 31 destinations now on sale since the opening of their base, underlines their strong commitment to both the Airport and wider North East region and we look forward to seeing these exciting new winter services take off later this year."
EasyJet has also added a new link between Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) and Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Iceland.
Manchester, Luton and London Southend additions
The airline has resumed direct flights between Manchester Airport (MAN) and Nuremberg Airport (NUE) in Germany, home to one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned Christmas markets. The route had lacked a nonstop service for several years, with aviation data from Cirium showing that Ryanair was the last airline to operate flights between the two cities, doing so in 2019.
A new year-round service between London Southend Airport (SEN) and George Best Belfast City Airport (BHD) launched on November 2, operating three times weekly on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.
Nigel Mayes, Business Development Director at London Southend Airport, said they were "really pleased to welcome Belfast to our growing route network."
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: "Belfast is a fantastic destination for both leisure and business travellers and, with convenient airports at both ends of the route, we’re sure the new service will prove popular with customers travelling between the two regions."
EasyJet has also added a service linking London Luton Airport (LTN) with Rabat–Salé Airport (RBA), the main gateway to Morocco's capital, Rabat. The route started on November 5 and will operate with two flights each week.
From November 5, the airline has introduced a twice-weekly service to Copenhagen Airport (CPH) in Denmark. All three of the newest routes will face competition from rival carriers.
