A vehicle fire sent thick plumes of black smoke into the air in a residential area of Port Talbot as emergency services rushed to the scene on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred in Princess Margaret Way in Aberavon, Sandfields, with images showing a car engulfed in flames while nearby residents watched as smoke billowed above surrounding homes.
Emergency Response and Outcome
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters attended the vehicle fire in Princess Margaret Way. The blaze was successfully extinguished, and no casualties or injuries were reported. Fire crews remained at the scene until around 5:30pm before leaving after ensuring the incident had been safely dealt with.
Witness Account
Saifur Rahaman, a witness to the incident, described how quickly the fire developed. "The fire spread incredibly quickly from what appeared to be a stationary vehicle parked close to residential properties," he told WalesOnline. "It was concerning to see how rapidly the flames developed. I am pleased to say the emergency services responded very quickly. South Wales Police were first on the scene followed shortly by the fire service. Thankfully the swift actions of everyone involved helped ensure the situation was brought under control."
The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
