A woman has been left 'freaking out' after discovering a mystery item inside a pocket of a jacket she spotted in a charity shop. The bargain hunter, known as Not Nic on TikTok, was browsing her local Goodwill store when she came across a jacket she thought would be perfect for her 'foresty aesthetic'.
Wanting to see how it looked, she wore the jacket and reached into the pockets to check the fit. But instead of finding the usual loose change or old tissues, she pulled out a handful of cash notes.
TikTok user shares discovery from car park
Taking to social media from the Goodwill car park, she explained: "I'm freaking out right now. I went to Goodwill, and I have some stuff here. The greens and the browns. I'm going for a very foresty aesthetic. I pick up this jacket. This is like a really cool jacket. I'm like, let me just try it on because I like the oversized look, but I feel like sometimes the oversized look makes me look weird."
After putting the jacket on, she began checking the pockets - only to realise there was something inside one of them. She said: "So I was in the pockets and I was like, hmm, does this look good? Guess what I pull out. This is money..."
At first, she thought she may have found a small amount of cash and decided she would buy the jacket anyway. She said: "I was like, I don't even care anymore. I'm going to buy this jacket just so I can see the money. Because maybe it's like a dollar."
Cash amount revealed
But when she started counting it, she realised the amount was much larger than she'd expected. She said: "No, there's £100 ($135) in here, because there's the little, the shiny reflective thing. I don't know what it's called. I wanted to see how much. It's £100 ($135). Oh my God."
However, she then began to wonder whether she had actually underestimated the amount of cash she found. She said: "Oh no, I actually think it might be £1,000 ($1,350)."
Clearly unsure what to do next, she began questioning whether she could get into trouble for finding the money. She thought: "Is this illegal? Like, am I gonna get in trouble? Like, look how much money it is. This is a lot of money. What do I do? What do I do? Oh my god, I'm freaking out."
Woman seeks advice from followers
The woman eventually decided to put the cash somewhere safe while she worked out what to do. Speaking to her followers, she added: "I do need to go to Aldi. Let me know what I should do while I'm grocery shopping, cause I'm actually freaking out right now."
Despite the unexpected discovery, there was one thing she remained certain about. She said: "But, this jacket is really cute."
Commenting on the post, one user said: "Keep it! I found 700 in a jacket years ago." Another user added: "Girl someone definitely put it there purposely to help someone, keep that." A third user said: "Keep it. So many people donate to goodwill they would never find the person that donated it. I have found so many things over the years."
