Uncle Bryn's Gavin & Stacey house open as holiday let

Uncle Bryn's Barry home from the sitcom Gavin & Stacey is now open for bookings as a themed holiday let, with weekend stays costing around £700 for six people for two nights. The terraced house on Trinity Street, which featured throughout the series as the home of Rob Brydon's character, has been transformed into a short-term let for fans.

A piece of TV history

The property became part of British TV history after appearing in memorable scenes, including Uncle Bryn's attempts to "surf the world wide web" and gatherings before nights out in Cardiff. It was put up for sale for £210,000 in February and was bought by Jaxx Nelson and Tom Bodfish, who spent months converting it into a fan-focused stay.

The owners named it "Gone Fishin'", a nod to the mysterious fishing trip involving Uncle Bryn and Jason, one of the show's most iconic running jokes. The house sleeps up to six people, with two double bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room, and is pet-friendly, with well-behaved dogs allowed for an additional fee.

Nods for real fans

Inside, guests will find several references to the sitcom, including Trevor's Subbuteo table and an omelette maker, along with an array of niche nods only real fans will understand. The property's famous multi-gym is still there, but guests are warned it is for photographs only and should not be used.

Bookings are now being taken, with a minimum two-night stay. Weekend stays cost roughly £700 in total, weekdays around £500, and a week-long stay in November around £1,300. The owners previously said they wanted to create a property filled with Welsh nostalgia and references recognisable to fans without losing its appeal as a place to stay. Jaxx said the aim was to make visitors feel as though they had "stepped straight into the world of the show" while still providing a comfortable seaside getaway.

Barry's pilgrimage site

The house is on Trinity Street, which has become a pilgrimage site for Gavin & Stacey fans, with thousands visiting to see the homes used in the sitcom, filmed around Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan. The opening follows another fan, Lisa Molloy, 42, and her husband Chris, who travelled around 130 miles from Tamworth to buy the home of Doris O'Neill across the street within 48 hours, paying just over its £220,000 asking price and extra to keep furniture from the show.

Fans visiting Barry can now book a night in Uncle Bryn's house, taking their Gavin & Stacey experience one step further.
