TUI expert Gary: Turkey is the best holiday destination

A TUI travel advisor with more than 35 years of experience has named Turkey as his favourite holiday destination.

Gary, who works as a travel advisor in Colchester, appeared in a social media video for the company. Over his career he has worked in more than 25 destinations worldwide, from Spain to Brazil.

Why Turkey is number one

Gary said: "Here is why Turkey is my number one destination. You can't beat Turkey, the food, the culture, the people, the beaches, it's amazing! I actually worked a season for TUI over 30 years ago in Marmaris and I absolutely fell in love with the country. I've been back then over 17 times on my own holidays."

He also recommended specific hotels for different types of travellers. For a romantic break, he suggested the TUI Blue Side, describing it as "a small, quaint hotel with excellent service adults only on the beach".

Hotel recommendations and things to do

For families, Gary recommended the Trendy Lara, which "has got everything inside from restaurants, bars and it's great for all the family with loads to do". He also highlighted the TUI Blue Grand Azur in Marmaris, praising its general manager, Sharon, and her team.

Gary added: "There's loads to do in Turkey, you'll find it's not all about hotels and resorts, there's loads to discover whether it's a boat trip, visiting somewhere like the ancient city of Ephesus or just wandering through the local markets, that's where you really get a feel for the place."

Viewer reactions

Viewers responded to the video with mixed opinions. One commented: "I don't know you Gary but I think your fabulous." Another wrote: "Literally the best advert ever. Great work Gaz."

A different viewer said: "Turkey is on my bucket list, I bet Gary could give me some tips!" However, one person questioned the choice, writing: "Gary seems like a legend. But I maybe the only one to say that Turkey is totally overrated." Another simply said: "Greece is better."
