Strasbourg Join Race for Swansea Striker Zan Vipotnik

Strasbourg are the latest team to show interest in Swansea City striker Zan Vipotnik, sources have told WalesOnline. The French Ligue 1 side have joined a growing list of admirers for the 24-year-old Slovenian international, who scored 23 goals in the Championship last season to win the Golden Boot.

Vipotnik's future is expected to be a key talking point during the summer transfer window. Despite recently signing a new and improved contract with Swansea, the club are braced for interest from multiple suitors. At the time of writing, no formal offer has been made for the striker.

Growing List of Suitors

West Ham United, who were relegated from the Premier League, are believed to still be monitoring Vipotnik after tracking him in January. Clubs in Italy have also shown interest. Initial discussions have taken place with Portuguese giants Benfica, while Lisbon rivals Sporting have also been linked by reports elsewhere.

Swansea responded to January interest by slapping a £15m price tag on their star striker. However, given his exploits since and his recent new deal, the club are likely to seek a higher fee this summer should any potential suitor come calling.

Vipotnik's Ambitions

Quizzed on his future while away with Slovenia earlier this month, Vipotnik admitted he had ambitions of playing in the Premier League but insisted he was happy at Swansea. "The desire is definitely there, but a lot of things would have to come together," he said. "For now, I'm really happy at Swansea. We'll see what happens in the summer."

Strasbourg's interest is understood to be tentative at this stage, but they are the latest club to be linked with the prolific striker. The summer window is expected to bring further developments.
