St Clement, the new London hotel from Soho House founder Nick Jones and property developer Mark Wadhwa, has opened by the Thames near Temple, offering 90 rooms and 15 river lofts with rates from £800. The hotel has already gone viral for its generous bathroom freebies, with guests finding a wishlist of grooming products including Harry Styles' Pleasing nail polish, Hershesons Almost Everything Cream, and DABA face moisturiser.
Signature Touches and Amenities
The hotel includes several signature touches: minibar snacks such as Torres crisps, Snickers, and Haribo are complimentary, laundry and ironing are included in the room rate, and staff will handle packing and unpacking. A trunk at the foot of the bed contains yoga mats and Nohrd weights. There are no bedside phones; all room service is arranged via WhatsApp.
The hotel is part of the 180 Studios complex, which houses offices for the British Fashion Council, designer Harris Reed, Frieze, and Charlotte Tilbury. The surrounding area already features Cafe and deli The Corner Shop, restaurants Toklas, and the Michelin-starred Ikoyi.
Dining and Design
Cafe Clement, which opened months before the hotel, serves a seasonal menu devised by Danny Bohan, formerly of The River Café. Favourites include honey-glazed figs with coco blanco beans and plum and browned butter tart. Breakfast includes a lobster omelette, with jams from Fortnum's, sourdough from Toklas, and pastries from Populations. Semi-private Bobbi's Bar is open until 3am.
The lobby features Richard Horwood's pastel-hued 1799 plan of the City of London, Conoid Chairs by George Nakashima, Jean Royère's cream sofa, and dual cube tables by Andrianna Shamaris. The rooms, designed by Eagle + Hodges, are described as calm and restrained with vintage pieces and bespoke furniture. The Penthouse offers views from the Houses of Parliament to Canary Wharf, and includes a stained glass folding screen by the late artist Sir Brian Clarke.
Upcoming Facilities
A health club is coming soon, with a 25m pool overlooking the Thames, a gym, Reformer Pilates studio, contrast therapy by Rebase, hyperbaric chambers, and banya saunas. Cleveland Clinic will provide health assessments. On the 11th floor, chef Florence Knight's debut restaurant Lunette will serve a tasting menu: four courses at lunch (£70) and six courses at dinner (£110).
