Travel expert Chelsea Dickenson has delivered her verdict on the Primark Trolley Cabin Bag, which went viral on social media earlier this year. Priced at £25, the bag has drawn attention for its practical cabin-size design, featuring a handle, straps, and two wheels.
Dickenson tested the bag during a summer trip to Estonia, taking it through urban explorations, boat rides, and beach visits. She examined its fit in baggage sizers for Ryanair, Wizz Air, and easyJet, noting that while some squeezing was necessary, it slotted in easily with a firm push. However, she warned against overpacking to avoid difficulties with airline staff.
The bag's storage capacity impressed Dickenson, who used compression bags for a week-long journey and managed to fit a significant amount. However, she highlighted potential issues: the handle, at three feet three inches, may be too short for taller individuals, and the bag can flip if improperly packed. It also struggled on rugged terrain and attracted dirt due to a lack of supporting base.
After seven days of use, Dickenson observed the bag remained usable but showed signs of wear, including a small tear and scratches. She concluded that the bag is suitable for straightforward trips from airport to hotel, particularly for those with accessibility needs, but not for extensive travel across varied terrains or long-term durability.
