Billing Aquadrome, a vast holiday park on the outskirts of Northampton, offers a surprising staycation destination with 11 lakes, a water park, and luxury caravans. Travel writer Natalie King visited with her family and dog, finding the park so large she got lost on arrival.
Luxury Accommodation on Moorhen Island
The family stayed on Moorhen Island, a secluded area surrounded by a lake. The caravan featured a terrace overlooking the water, a hot tub, bathrobes, a Ninja air fryer, and a Tassimo coffee machine. A dog welcome pack included poo bags, a portable water bowl, and treats.
Activities for All Ages
Willow Lake offers an inflatable aqua park, kayaking, and paddle boarding. A free mini train loops around the lake. During a Pride weekend, the park hosted themed entertainment, kids' clubs, discos, and live music. Paid activities like alpaca feeding cost £8, with other options under £20 per person.
Evening Entertainment
The Venue hub features an outdoor amphitheatre, amusement arcade, bar, and restaurant. Guests enjoyed a Spice Girls tribute act and family-friendly games. The park also had a giant slip-and-slide, foam party, and water balloon fight. The indoor pool, with a splash park and slides, booked up quickly.
Overall Impression
According to King, Billing Aquadrome balances old-fashioned family fun with high-standard accommodation and clean surroundings. While the location is not a tourist hotspot, the park provides everything needed for a multi-day stay with many free activities.
