The street food vendor Good Times Markets has confirmed the food stalls that will feature at its Christmas Village in Glasgow's George Square this festive season, with 12 traders set to serve everything from tacos and pizza to crumble and hot beverages.
From November 19 to December 31, the newly refurbished square will host the Good Times Christmas Village, run by the vendor typically found on the banks of the Clyde. Half of the square will be filled with attractions put on by Glasgow City Council, while the other half will be taken up by the village, which includes food stalls, bars, entertainment that varies throughout the week, and children's activities.
Traders confirmed for the village
Among the confirmed traders is Scotland's first crumble bar, The Crumbleologist, which will serve freshly made crumbles with a choice of fruit fillings and creamy custard. Those looking for pizza can visit Wanderers Kneaded, while Holy Smokehouse will offer stacked burgers, loaded tater tots, and BBQ pulled pork.
Food trucks at the event will include delicacies from Greece, Lebanon, Thailand, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka, allowing visitors to sample cuisine from around the world.
Capacity and entertainment details
Chef and founder of the markets, Scott van der Hoek, said in a social media clip: "We will be delivering your Christmas experience this year at George Square - Good Times Christmas Village. We're going to have an array of 20 different food traders, all local traders with a 3,000 capacity."
He added: "A 500 capacity bar which will be done by APEX Bars. They will be delivering three different bars, one will be the Glasshouse bar. Full heated, [with a] beautiful bar in there with a stage. Live music every day, singo bingo, there will be ceilidhs on a Thursday."
"At any point in time you come down here on any given day, there will be different things, different activities every day. So you can come once, twice, three times a week and have a great time."
Opening and additional offerings
The village opens at 12pm on November 19, and guests can hand pick a Christmas tree that will be delivered to their home. Good Times Markets has indicated that more details will be shared regarding food, Christmas lunches, and charities supporting the festivities, along with activities, entertainment, and ASN days.
The confirmed traders for the Good Times Christmas Village on George Square are The Crumbleologist, La Vita, The Wee Taqueria, Phil's Coffee, Wanderers Kneaded, Orathai Noi's Thai Cafe, Ceylon Cartel, Mama Del's Filipino Food, Lebanese in a Van, Holy Smokehouse, Fat Out Bao, and I Love Gyros.
