A father and son from Norfolk have set three new Guinness World Records after completing a 400-day, 30,000km charity cycle around the world. George Kohler, 57, and his son Joshua, 23, from near Acle, cycled through 31 countries across four continents, raising more than £50,000 for Unicef.
They were greeted by hundreds of supporters waving Union flags as they crossed the finish line in Halvergate, near Norwich. The pair now hold records for fastest father and son to circumnavigate the world on bicycles, furthest distance cycled by a father and son, and most countries cycled through by a father and son.
George, a former British soldier who served for 27 years until 2014, and Joshua, a content creator and filmmaker, began their journey in March last year. They faced extreme conditions, including temperatures from 47C to -3C, and climbed a total of 180,000 metres—the equivalent of 20 Mount Everests.
Speaking after the finish, Joshua said: 'I've just cycled around the world with my dad, and now we hold three world records.' The pair had previously cycled across the US in 2022 and from Land's End to John O' Groats in 2021.
