Drummohr named Scotland's Campsite of the Year by AA

Drummohr Camping and Glamping Site, a five-star site near Edinburgh, has been named AA Scotland's Campsite of the Year for 2026/27. The title was announced on Wednesday, November 4, as part of the AA's annual Caravan and Camping Awards, which recognises the best campsites and caravan parks across the UK.

Award-Winning Facilities and Accommodation

Open all year round, Drummohr holds five-star ratings from both the AA and VisitScotland. The site offers self-catering luxury lodges with hot tubs, glamping pods, en-suite bothies, and grass and hard-standing pitches for tourers and tents.

Guests have access to free high-speed Wi-Fi across the site, an EV charging point, and an on-site shop selling local produce. The amenity blocks feature underfloor heating, free hot showers, family-friendly accessible bathrooms with baths, an indoor campers' kitchen, and laundry facilities.

Family-Friendly and Pet-Friendly Features

The family-friendly location includes themed wizard, adventure, and fairy glamping pods, as well as family bothies and a large playground. Drummohr is also pet-friendly, with its own scenic dog walk and pet-friendly accommodation.

AA winning sites are selected by AA inspectors for their outstanding overall quality and high levels of customer care.

Recognition and Previous Success

The accolade is the latest in a series of successes for the site near Musselburgh. Drummohr has previously been named the UK's top campsite in a poll organised by Camping magazine and best in Scotland by outdoor accommodation booking platform Pitchup.com. It has also won Camping Site of the Year at the Scottish Hospitality Awards for the past two years.

Site manager Angie Purves said: "AA Scotland Campsite of the Year is a very prestigious award in our industry, so we're absolutely delighted to be named the best in the country."

Purves added: "We're very lucky to be in such a beautiful location close to the coast and just eight miles from Edinburgh, and it's wonderful to see the care we put into the site recognised in this way. It is fantastic recognition for the whole team, who work incredibly hard to make every guest's stay special."

"Our core focus is to create memorable moments for every guest, whatever the weather, through experiences that turn every stay into lasting memories. When guests check in, we give them recommendations for attractions and restaurants, as well as information on transport links. We offer that in different languages. I think that kind of attention to detail makes a real difference. We welcome people from across the UK and around the world, and it's lovely to see so many of them return year after year."
