The Post Office Travel Money annual Winter Sun Holiday Costs Barometer has revealed the top 12 best value winter sun destinations for Brits, based on everyday costs such as a bottle of beer, a cup of coffee, a three-course meal with drinks, and essentials like suncream or bottled water. The research does not consider flight or package holiday prices.
Cape Town leads the rankings
Cape Town, South Africa, came top of the list as the cheapest overall destination for a bottle of beer (£1.86) and three-course meals with house wine (£39.26). November marks the start of summer in the city, with daytime temperatures around 26C, longer hours of sunlight and rain-free days. Highlights include Boulders Beach with its colony of penguins and a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain.
