Bamburgh, a historic village in Northumberland, has been named the UK's second best holiday destination for 2026, according to a new ranking by Ski Vertigo. The village, which recently won the title of the UK's best seaside town for the sixth year in a row, was pipped to the post by St Ives in Cornwall, which claimed the top spot.

The list, compiled by Ski Vertigo, was based on rankings from holiday accommodation firm Sykes Holiday Cottages for 2026. Bamburgh finished ahead of two Lake District locations, Ambleside and Grasmere, with Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire rounding out the top five.

Bamburgh's profile was further heightened by its win in the UK's best seaside town rankings last month, with consumer experts at Which? placing it in pole position, though by a small margin, with Tynemouth just two points behind in second.
