Rangers have reportedly agreed a deal with Troyes for French defender Sankhoun Diawara, but Serie A giants AC Milan are attempting to derail the move.
Diawara close to Ibrox move
Foot Mercato report that Rangers "have made significant progress in their pursuit" of the 20-year-old in recent days and an agreement is now in place. The left-sided defender is a France U19 international and broke into the Troyes first team in the second half of last season, making 14 appearances in Ligue 2.
Milan consider last-gasp bid
Milan are also said to be keen on bringing Diawara to their reserve team and are considering a last-gasp bid. It is noted that Rangers would be bringing Diawara in as a first-team player, but Milan could "outmaneuver" the Scottish Premiership side.
Rangers' summer rebuild
Manager Derek McInnes has already brought in six new faces this summer: Ross McCrorie, Dan Neil, Lawrence Shankland, Cammy Devlin, Ivor Pandur and Ben Godfrey. A deal worth around £4.5 million has also been agreed with Partizan Belgrade for Vanja Dragojevic.
Diawara's potential arrival comes as John Souttar heads for the exit door, with Sheffield United among several English Football League clubs tracking the Scotland international.
