Morgan Rogers completes record-breaking £117m transfer to Chelsea
Morgan Rogers joins Chelsea in record £117m deal

Chelsea have completed the signing of Morgan Rogers for a seismic £117million, making the 23-year-old England star the most expensive British footballer in history.

Rogers has signed a contract until 2032, with an option for a further year. The fee eclipses the amount Manchester City paid to acquire his World Cup team-mate, Elliot Anderson.

Long-term pursuit

Chelsea pursued Rogers for over two years, beating off competition from Arsenal and other clubs to land the versatile attacking midfielder. The deal is a first major win for new Blues manager Xabi Alonso, who held productive talks with Rogers to entice him to west London.

Rogers' reaction

Upon finalising his move, Rogers said: "I'm so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I've always admired since I was a kid.

"I'm really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we've got and where the club is heading. That's why I'm here and I can't wait to get started."
