Man Utd face Kone competition, lead Scott race

Manchester United's summer recruitment drive continues as they reshape their squad under Michael Carrick. Four new signings have already arrived at Old Trafford, with midfield reinforcements a top priority. Chelsea's Andrey Santos and Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans have been brought in, but the club remain linked with other targets, including France international Manu Kone.

Manu Kone transfer twist

United face fresh competition in their pursuit of Roma's Manu Kone. Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli are reportedly targeting the 25-year-old, which could derail United's plans. According to Sky Sports Switzerland, Al-Ahli have contacted Roma to learn Kone's price tag and have "concrete interest" in the midfielder, whose performances at the World Cup convinced them to make a move.

United are "monitoring" Kone, while Atletico Madrid have also scouted him. Kone is said to favour a Premier League move over La Liga but is "not ruling out" a switch to Saudi Arabia. The news follows Al-Hilal's agreement for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, a player United had monitored, and the club could be wary of a repeat situation.

United in 'pole position' for midfielder

United are among the leading contenders to sign Bournemouth's Alex Scott. The 22-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs, with Arsenal as United's main rivals. Mirror Sport reports that Carrick's side are "in pole position", alongside the Gunners, to complete a deal. Scott's representatives have held talks with both clubs, and the player will make his final decision within the next fortnight.

Scott is claimed to favour a move to Arsenal but has concerns over his chances of regular minutes, which could benefit United. He would become the club's third midfield signing of the summer, following Santos and Tielemans.
