GTA VI: Release Date, Pre-Orders, Vice City Return

Grand Theft Auto VI has been confirmed to launch later this year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. The game, which has been anticipated for over a decade, is set for release on November 19, 2026, after multiple delays.

Release Date and Delays

Originally slated for autumn 2025, GTA VI was first delayed to May 2026. A subsequent delay pushed the launch to November 19, 2026. Rockstar Games stated they needed extra time to add finishing touches. In their announcement, Rockstar said: "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

Platform Availability

GTA VI will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S at launch. No PC or Nintendo Switch version has been announced. This follows Rockstar's historical pattern of console-first releases; for example, GTA V launched on PS4 and Xbox One in November 2014, with a PC port arriving in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted on consoles in October 2018 and reached PC in November 2019.

Pre-Orders and Editions

Pre-orders for GTA VI will go live on digital platforms on June 25, 2026. A 'Ultimate Edition' will be available, including extra content such as vehicles, weapons, and in-game apparel. UK retailers expected to offer physical copies include Very, Amazon, Smyths, Argos, The Game Collection, and GAME.

Setting: Vice City Returns

GTA VI returns to the iconic Vice City, inspired by Miami. The fictional state of Leonida is inspired by Florida. Early trailers showcase packed beaches, speedboats, palm trees, seaplanes, and Hawaiian shirts, emphasizing a sun-soaked coastal environment.

Story and Characters

The game follows two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style relationship. According to Rockstar, they become entangled in a 'criminal conspiracy' after an 'easy score goes wrong.' Further story details remain undisclosed.
