Everton supporters remain focused on new signings, particularly a right-back, but the club must also consider player sales to comply with Premier League financial rules. Despite a solid financial footing after The Friedkin Group takeover, every player has a price.
Iliman Ndiaye interest
Iliman Ndiaye is someone Everton and manager David Moyes do not want to lose, but they would consider offers close to fees paid for proven Premier League performers. Manchester United have an interest, and Aston Villa have been linked after selling Morgan Rogers to Chelsea for £117m. However, Villa are signing Alejandro Garnacho on loan with an obligation to buy. With Ndiaye having three years left on his contract, Everton are in a strong position to resist or dictate terms.
Five players with contracts expiring in 2027
Everton face a more difficult position with five first-team players whose contracts expire on June 30, 2027: Tim Iroegbunam, Carlos Alcaraz, Dwight McNeil, Beto, and Nathan Patterson.
Iroegbunam ended the season in Moyes' first team and impressed against Manchester City in May. Hull City and Ipswich Town are among clubs said to have the 23-year-old on their radar. The club must decide whether to cash in or offer a new contract, considering his starting role.
Carlos Alcaraz, also 23, is into the final 12 months of his contract and has been linked with River Plate. He was an excellent loan addition in 2024-25 but used sparingly last season. Everton have an option to extend his terms.
Dwight McNeil saw a £20m obligation-to-buy move to Crystal Palace collapse on deadline day. He bounced back to win his place in Moyes' starting line-up. With his contract expiring next summer, Everton would have to consider offers, even if less attractive than the Palace deal.
Beto scored against Dundee in pre-season. If he continues his form, questions over a new centre-forward lessen. But with less than 12 months left, an offer would give the club much to think about. Selling him would require another striker, which may not be easy in a tough market.
Right-back priority and Nathan Patterson
Evertonians are desperate for a new right-back after club captain Seamus Coleman left and Nathan Patterson's inevitable exit. Patterson, 24, has interest from clubs including Eintracht Frankfurt. His time at the club seems certain to end before September 1, having been overlooked by several managers.
Centre-back Michael Keane and third-choice goalkeeper Tom King are also in the final 12 months of their contracts, but neither will be going anywhere, with Keane having agreed a 12-month extension in April.
