Barcelona are reportedly preparing an offer for Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres 'imminently', according to Spanish outlet Sport. The La Liga champions are searching for a forward to replace Ferran Torres after the World Cup winner joined Paris Saint-Germain for £43m.
Gyokeres offer 'imminent'
Barcelona's first choice target is Julian Alvarez - also admired at Arsenal - but Atletico Madrid are refusing to sell the Argentine to a direct rival. As such, Barca have reportedly turned their attention to Gyokeres.
The report claimed that Barcelona would test the waters at the Emirates Stadium and "make movements in the next few hours". The Swede joined Arsenal last summer in a deal worth up to £64m and was tipped to finally end Arteta's long search for a goal-scoring No.9.
But despite scoring 21 goals in all competitions in his first campaign for the Gunners, Gyokeres' all-around play left a lot to be desired and he often went missing in important games. That led to rumours of his potential exit earlier this summer, with previous reports claiming Arsenal were willing to offer Gyokeres in a player-plus-cash deal for Alvarez.
Rivals circling for Nwaneri
Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell during Arsenal's win over City on Sunday by claiming the decision has already been made for Ethan Nwaneri to leave the Gunners in the next two weeks. He wrote on X that the club made the decision weeks ago to let the 19-year-old, who was sent out on loan for the second half of last season, depart.
That came after Nwaneri did not even make the bench for the Community Shield clash. The versatile youngster was seen watching on from the sidelines with Gabriel Martinelli, another player heavily linked with a move away this summer, as their team-mates took part in the Principality Stadium trophy celebrations.
Romano has since doubled down by claiming several clubs have already approached Arsenal over a possible deal for Nwaneri, including AC Milan, Galatasaray and unnamed German sides. He went on to say on his YouTube channel that there is a feeling at Arsenal that Premier League clubs are now expected to join the race for his signature.
Nwaneri is said to be conferring with his agents and family before making a decision regarding his next move following a poor loan stint with Marseille last term.
