Primark's EasyJet-approved vacuum backpack selling fast at £35

Primark's new Vacuum Travel Backpack, which meets EasyJet's cabin bag rules, is selling out fast across the UK. Priced at £35, the bag features a built-in vacuum compression section designed to save space for hand luggage.

Designed for Hand Luggage

Primark describes the backpack as having carry handles, adjustable shoulder straps, zip compartments, a front zip pocket, a mesh back panel, and an internal vacuum compression section. The vacuum compartment helps compress clothing, while extra pockets keep smaller essentials within reach.

The bag is available in UK stores, but stock is limited. Shoppers are advised to use the online stock checker or pay ahead for click-and-collect to avoid a wasted trip.

Travel Expert's Test

Travel content creator Chelsea, known for ITV's This Morning and her Holiday Expert website, tested the bag for a short trip to avoid premium luggage fees. She found that the vacuum feature "kind of gets in the way of normal packing" if not used, and noted that Primark does not include a vacuum pump, requiring shoppers to source one separately.

Chelsea measured the bag at 45x33x24cm, which fits EasyJet's 45x36x20cm limit for a free cabin bag, but only when underpacked. In an Instagram video, she showed it fitting perfectly into the baggage checker at Stansted Airport.

Airline Baggage Fees

Oversized cabin bags can cost up to £70 at the gate. Ryanair charges between £46 and £69.99 for bags that don't fit its sizer. EasyJet charges a flat £60 fee for bags exceeding size limits at the gate. Jet2 offers a more generous allowance, permitting bags up to 56x45x25cm (up to 10kg) plus a small personal item, with excess bags charged £45 per item plus £12 per kilogram over the limit.
