Apple iOS 27 Free Upgrade: All Compatible iPhones Listed

Apple has officially announced iOS 27, the next major software update for iPhones, and it will be available as a free download for millions of users this autumn. The revelation came during the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino, California.

What's New in iOS 27?

The upcoming operating system replaces iOS 26 and introduces several key features. Users can expect enhanced customization options for the Liquid Glass interface, improved file search capabilities, and a significantly smarter Siri that can compose emails, create calendar events, and even assist with booking concert tickets.

Apple also promises performance improvements across the board. The company claims that apps will launch up to 30% faster, photos will load up to 70% quicker after being taken, and AirDrop transfers will be up to 80% faster. A new CPU Scheduler feature is designed to ensure older iPhones remain responsive after the update.

Enhanced Parental Controls

One of the standout additions is a suite of parental control features aimed at helping families manage children's device usage. New tools include an easier setup process, "Ask to Browse" functionality, time allowances, and an updated Screen Time interface. These features are designed to give parents more control over content access, communication limits, and app usage times.

"At Apple, our mission has always been to create technology that empowers people and enriches their lives, while helping keep them safe," said Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple's vice president of Health and Fitness. "Today, we're introducing major updates to help families thoughtfully establish age-based protections and develop healthy digital habits."
