A Scottish fish and chip supplier that traded for almost a quarter of a century has entered administration following a sustained decline in business. Jon Dow Distribution, based in Forfar, has ceased operations, and all five of its employees have been made redundant.
Company Background and Operations
The business, owned by Colin Muir and Joan Muir, was incorporated in 2002 as J.D.R.B Ltd and traded under the name Jon Dow Distribution. It served customers across seven delivery routes, supplying towns and cities including Inverness, Elgin, Fraserburgh, Aberdeen, Montrose, Dundee, Fife and Perth.
The company supplied a wide range of products commonly used by fish and chip shops, including frozen black and white puddings, pies, burgers, fish fillets, ribs and pizzas. Alongside food products, it also distributed essential catering supplies such as cooking oils, batter mixes and a variety of sauces.
Liquidation and Redundancies
The company has now collapsed following a period of declining trade. Interpath's Geoff Jacobs and Alistair McAlinden were appointed joint liquidators on October 26 and will now oversee the winding up of the business. Their responsibilities include marketing the company's assets for sale, among them four delivery vehicles.
Directors said the redundancies were made "with regret", according to The Courier. Employees who have been made redundant are being assisted with claims through the UK Government's insolvency support scheme.
Next Steps for Creditors
A spokesperson for Interpath confirmed that workers who have been made redundant are being helped by the joint liquidators with applications to the UK Government's insolvency service. The spokesperson also said that creditors owed money by the collapsed business will be contacted by Interpath over the coming weeks regarding the liquidation process.
