Jemma Solomon, the sister of television personality Stacey Solomon, has made an emotional announcement, revealing she is closing her business just days before Christmas. The 37-year-old entrepreneur fought back tears as she described the past twelve months as a 'struggle year' and shared her 'scary' but necessary decision with her followers.
The Emotional Announcement
In a heartfelt video posted from her company's headquarters, which was surrounded by packing boxes, Jemma addressed her 863,000 Instagram followers. She confessed to feeling nervous but insisted the choice to shut down The Label Lady was the right one for her family's future. "It is time to say goodbye to The Label Lady," she stated, managing a smile despite the evident emotion. She described the office as a second home that had fostered a wonderful community over the past six years.
The business, which she launched in 2019, enjoyed significant early success and even secured a financial investment and mentorship from Lord Alan Sugar. Jemma expressed immense gratitude for the support from his team, who helped her navigate complex areas like payroll and import management. However, after an 'amazing run', the pressures of the last year led to this pivotal moment.
Putting Family First
Jemma, a mother-of-three, explained that the driving force behind the closure was a desire to be more present for her children. She shares three children—Darcy, 12, Mila, 10, and Hudson, seven—with her husband, Lee. The couple, who live in a renovated four-bedroom house in Dagenham, have worked 'extremely long hours' since their children were babies.
"I am gonna be a little bit selfish," she admitted, her voice cracking. "As my children have got bigger, I would like to be there for them a little bit more." She framed the decision as a positive, if daunting, new beginning, emphasising her belief that you "never ever know" unless you try. Her husband Lee was described as being 'very nervous' about the change, but supportive of the conclusion that the business chapter "has to come to an end".
Looking After Staff and the Future
Jemma was keen to highlight that her employees, whom she praised as 'incredible', are being well looked after. She confirmed they would stay with the company until its final day and are supported into 2026. The business will remain open for customer queries before Christmas, with a major clearance sale planned for January.
While the immediate future is uncertain—Jemma confessed she and Lee don't yet know what the 'new beginning' will entail—she remains optimistic. She ended her announcement by thanking every customer and wishing everyone a magical Christmas, signing off from The Label Lady 'for now'. The decision marks the end of a significant chapter for the business-minded mum, who previously worked as a cake maker and event decorator, but opens the door to more time with her family.
