Tesco Adds Pot Noodle to Meal Deal, Sparks Customer Debate
Tesco Adds Pot Noodle to Meal Deal, Sparks Debate

Tesco has introduced Pot Noodles as a snack option in its meal deal, prompting a flurry of reactions on social media. The addition allows customers to pair a Pot Noodle with a main and a drink for the standard meal deal price of £4.25, or £3.85 with a Clubcard. The premium meal deal, priced at £6 or £5.50 with a Clubcard, also includes the Pot Noodle.

Viral TikTok Sparks Debate

The news broke via TikTok creator Dhean Morris, who posted a video expressing playful outrage at the inclusion. In the clip, Morris said: "Tesco, I've got a bone to pick with you. The Tesco meal deal has added a new thing onto its roster, and I don't believe what I saw, so I'm going to go and check it out and then tell you why I'm angry about it." He then showed Pot Noodles displayed above mini Pringles pots in the snack section, confirming they qualified as a snack.

Morris argued that a Pot Noodle, which requires hot water to prepare, is more akin to a main course than a snack. He noted that while Tesco sells large fruit pots as mains, a Pot Noodle—equally filling—is classified as a snack. "Bear in mind, their range of snacks is that this is also a snack. Some guacamole and some chips. You're telling me that's in the same realm as a full Pot Noodle?" he said.

Mixed Reactions from Shoppers

Commenters on the video were divided. Many agreed with Morris, questioning the logic of categorizing a Pot Noodle as a snack. However, others welcomed the change, seeing it as a way to get more food for the same price. One commenter said: "Nah, that's class for long shifts or heavy work. I rate that." Another added: "Trust, get a sandwich and a Pot Noodle. Prep the Pot Noodle while eating your sandwich. Game changer." A third wrote: "But you know what, someone might now be able to get their dinner with their lunch and save some money, which is always a bonus."

Limited-Time Offer

According to the Tesco website, the Pot Noodle is included in both the standard and premium meal deals, but the offer is only valid from May 18 to October 12, 2026. This suggests the Pot Noodle may be a seasonal addition, encouraging customers to act quickly if they wish to take advantage of the deal.
