Rangers face £10m+ Cozier-Duberry price as Brighton stand firm

Brighton are reportedly demanding an increased fee from Rangers to allow Amario Cozier-Duberry to leave this summer. The Glasgow giants saw a second bid for the winger booted out early this week, with Derek McInnes keen to strengthen his options on the flanks.

The offer put on the table by the Light Blues to the Premier League side is said to be in the region of £7million. It follows the collapse of a deal for PSV attacker Couhaib Driouech - despite the player attending the second leg of Rangers' Europa League third qualifying round clash with Jagiellonia Bialystok - due to issues with the 24-year-old's medical.

But Sussex World report that an offer of "more than £10million" would convince Brighton to sell the talent - who has entered the final year of his contract on the south coast. It is noted the club's preference is to sign up the player on a new deal before the Arsenal academy graduate is loaned out once again.

Daisuke Yokota has been added on the flanks, but McInnes wants more and 21-year-old Cozier-Duberry is on the Ibrox wishlist.

Pressure mounts on McInnes

Despite securing his first win since taking charge against St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup, McInnes is in dire need of some big results to give his Rangers' tenure lift off. A winless start to the Premiership season and a bruising Europa League exit have provided early set-backs for his tenure, as the gaffer prepares for the Conference League playoff clash with Jablonec.

And Pat Nevin - who met up with McInnes amid speculation he would leave Hearts to replace Danny Rohl - has demanded the American owners back the boss up with big money.

Speaking to OLBG: "The Scottish Premiership will be competitive, Motherwell might struggle to repeat last season's success but have started exceptionally, and Hearts are coming back.

"The league is challenging, and teams are bringing in good players. Celtic have started building well, so it’s tough for McInnes, but do I think he can turn it around? Yes, I absolutely do.

"However, between now and the end of the transfer window, he needs a bit more creativity. He knows that.

"Whether it’s a number ten who can get his head up or a wide player, he needs that spark. Until he gets it, I’m not sure if Rangers can win the league.

"Ultimately, they need to win the league, but are these short-term concerns fatal? No, I’d stick by him."
