The team behind one of Aberdeen's most prestigious restaurants has announced a new sister venue, Mezzo, a Mediterranean-style diner set to open in October. Located just outside the Trinity Centre at 155 Union Street, it will take over the former Chopstix Noodle Bar.
Two-Floor Venue with Pasta Bar and City Views
Spanning two floors, Mezzo will offer a ground-floor fresh pasta bar and deli featuring hand-made pasta, focaccia subs, and everyday plates alongside a carefully chosen wine list. The second floor will serve small sharing plates and showcase dishes, paired with a vinyl soundtrack and views overlooking Union Terrace Gardens.
New Venture for Award-Winning Chef Kevin Dalgleish
Mezzo is a new venture from Kevin Dalgleish, the award-winning chef behind the Michelin guide-recognised Amuse restaurant at 1 Queen's Terrace. Amuse, which opened in 2022, has earned two AA rosettes and was named in the Michelin Guide twice in 2023 and 2024.
Kevin Dalgleish said: "We’ve been looking for ages for the right spot in town, and this just feels right. Mezzo is our chance to bring something super cool, great value and fun to the centre of Aberdeen: brilliant pasta, proper wine, great music and a room with a view. And with The 155 Club, we wanted to give local businesses a home in the city centre too. We can’t wait to open the doors."
Membership Scheme and Trinity Centre Partnership
Mezzo will also launch the 155 Club, a membership scheme aimed at Aberdeen's business community. Mezzo is the latest addition to Aberdeen's thriving food and drink scene, following openings such as a 'first of its kind' wellness café and a 'slow living' studio earlier this year. Meanwhile, signs for a new bar called 'Allegro' have been spotted at 150 Union Street, described as a new "social dining experience".
