Lidl is launching a new men's knitted fleece jacket priced at £9.99, which bears a close resemblance to more expensive alternatives costing £73.70 and £155. The ESMARA Men's Knitted Fleece Jacket will be available in stores from Sunday, November 11.
The supermarket, which operates more than 1,000 stores across the UK, will offer the jacket in dark blue, brown, brown melange and navy. It features a zip fastening and thermal material designed to provide extra warmth during the colder months. The product is only available for in-store collection.
Features and availability
The jacket includes a soft and comfortable brushed lining, a high collar with full zip and chin guard, side pockets, and a relaxed fit. It is available in sizes M to XXL and is made from 100% polyester.
Shoppers can check stock at their local Lidl by entering their postcode into the online store finder on launch day and beyond.
Comparison with higher-priced alternatives
The Lidl jacket is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to the Chamonix Knit Jacket, sold via Hardloop for £73.70, down from £89.90. That product is available in black/noir, dawn, saphir and dorite styles, with free home delivery on orders over £150 and free returns within 100 days.
The Chamonix jacket's product description highlights its zippered chest pocket in X.C.S. 100 and stretch fabric for freedom of movement, describing it as suitable for alpine adventures from icy hikes to summit breaks.
For those with a larger budget, the Lidl jacket could also be mistaken for the Men's ReNew Wool Jacket at Thermowave, priced at £155 — nearly 16 times the supermarket price. That piece is made from recycled wool and described as "super warm," "breathable," and offering "perfect insulation" with a 350 GSM high-density fabric.
