Lidl is launching a new range of kitchen items this week as part of its latest Special Buy update. Starting Thursday, October 15, shoppers will be able to browse a variety of appliances, devices, and tools in the store's famous Middle Aisle.
Silvercrest Premium Butcher's Block
Lidl fans will be able to get its Silvercrest Premium Butcher's Block for £17.99. The chopping board is made from end grain oak and is 100% FSC-certified. The supermarket says it is "particularly robust and gentle on knives".
It also comes with a recessed handle "for an easy grip" and non-slip feet, "so it stays safely in place". Shoppers can get £3 off the regular price with the Lidl Plus app if they purchase the board before October 21.
Similar to Pricier John Lewis Version
The £18 wooden kitchen board looks similar to a pricier version available at John Lewis. The department store's Tala Rectangular Rubber Wood End Grain Chopping Board is on sale for £25, and features a similar chunky, premium-style rectangular end-grain style like Lidl - and both are intended for heavy-duty kitchen chopping.
This vertical wood-fibre construction is highly favoured by chefs because it allows knife blades to slip between the fibres rather than cutting across them. This process keeps kitchen knives sharper for longer and reduces visible scarring on the board's surface.
Despite these similarities, there are still differences between the two. The Lidl Silvercrest model is the larger and thicker of the two, measuring 45 x 32 x 4cm. It features a deep perimeter juice groove designed to catch liquids during meat preparation.
The Tala board from John Lewis offers a slightly more compact footprint at 37 x 30 x 3cm. It features a completely flat, smooth surface and hidden side handles, making it a versatile option for baking or serving charcuterie. The John Lewis version is also made from sustainable Hevea (rubberwood), while Lidl's offering uses solid woods such as bamboo or acacia.

Lidl is also bringing out on the same day a Bodum 1L Caffettiera Coffee Maker for £10.99. Lidl says: "French press coffee maker from Bodum for coffee just the way you like it. Makes 8 cups. Quick and easy to use. Made from borosilicate glass with stainless steel filter. Dishwasher safe."

Lids and containers are compatible with other sets from the same range. Suitable for microwaves and dishwashers. Suitable for temperatures from -20 to 100°C."
