GO Outdoors Eden Centre closing down sale with up to 60% off

GO Outdoors, a UK outdoor clothing and equipment retailer, is set to close its branch at the Eden Centre in High Wycombe. Signs displayed in the store windows advertise a closing down sale, with discounts of up to 60% off, and the message “everything must go”. The store is expected to shut in mid-January, according to the Bucks Free Press.

Retailer's presence and closures

GO Outdoors is described as the “UK’s biggest outdoor retailer”, operating over 120 stores nationwide and stocking more than 600 brands. The High Wycombe closure follows the recently announced shutdown of its branch in Colchester, which is the sole GO Outdoors store in the Essex town, located on Sheepen Road Retail Park.

The chain first launched as a single shop in Sheffield in 1969. It aims to offer shoppers a range of price points, with customers able to choose between “good”, “better” and “best” versions of items. The retailer also provides a membership card service for additional discounts.

Price match and company history

On its website, GO Outdoors says it offers an “always the best price” match with its membership card. If a customer finds an item at a lower price elsewhere within seven days, the chain says it will match the price. Memberships are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase or last renewal.

In 2017, JD Sports acquired GO Outdoors, and the chain now operates alongside Blacks and Millets. GO Outdoors also partners with several youth programmes, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Scouts. Express.co.uk has contacted GO Outdoors for further information.
