The former Select clothes shop in Gateshead's Trinity Square is set to become a Chopstix noodle bar, with the opening scheduled for later this month. The venue, which previously served as a popular clothing store for years, will reopen under the new brand, and interest is already so high that queues are anticipated on launch day.
From Fashion Retailer to Noodle Bar
Select was a go-to destination for many Geordie shoppers during the 1990s and 2000s, offering trendy outfits for nights out and providing first jobs for many Saturday sales assistants. However, the Gateshead branch closed several years ago after the company went into administration, and other locations in Ashington, Peterlee, Team Valley, and South Shields followed suit months later.
The Trinity Square premises have now been confirmed as the home of Chopstix, a noodle bar chain that has already seen success in Newcastle city centre, with long queues at its Northumberland Street launch last year.
Opening Event and Excitement
Chopstix will open its doors at 11am on Thursday, August 20, with a major opening day event planned. Billboards advertising the new restaurant have sparked a strong reaction from passers-by and social media users alike.
