High street footwear giant Footasylum is opening a new flagship store at the Trinity Leeds shopping centre this weekend, with free treats for early shoppers and a guest appearance from a popular YouTuber. The new branch, located on the lower ground floor next to Schuh, will launch on Saturday, June 20, coinciding with the World Cup excitement.

Grand Opening Events and Giveaways

The first 100 customers in the queue when the store opens at 9am will receive free coffee, matcha, brownies, and blondies from The Savvy Baker. Additionally, the first 200 attendees will get goody bags, with some containing golden tickets for special prizes. A local DJ will provide live music, and content creator Danny Aarons, known for his FIFA gaming videos, will make a guest appearance.

Store Features and Product Range

The 12,000 sq ft flagship store will offer a wide selection of menswear, womenswear, and junior apparel, along with footwear and accessories from brands like Asics, Converse, Nike, adidas, and Footasylum's exclusive labels Celebre and Alpyrex. The store promises an improved digital retail experience with multiple mobile payment points for a quicker, seamless checkout.

Company Background

Footasylum Limited was founded in 2005 by David Makin and currently operates around 55 stores across the UK. In April 2019, JD Sports acquired Footasylum, but the Competition and Markets Authority required JD Sports to sell the retailer in November 2021. Both parties paid a fine of £4.7 million in February 2022.
